The Aileron Bush Club Inc was formed in 2004 to rekindle the bush spirit of outback events of a bygone era.

The Aileron Racing Club was formed in the 1930’s.  It was registered as the ‘Barrow Creek Racing Club’& annual meetings were held at Aileron.  These bush race were a very popular event & it allowed pastoralists & town folk to come together to enjoy a well earned break in a social setting.  All the horses had to be grass fed & were very competitive considering there was no prize money involved.  Prize money came into vogue in the 1970’s.  Gymkhana events would also be held over the weekend.

Aileron continued to hold gymkhana & camp draft events into the early 1980’s.  Unfortunately seasonal conditions saw the demise of an annual meeting at Aileron.

2005 saw the rebirth of the Aileron Bush Club Inc & sports weekend compromising of rodeo, gymkhana, ute competition & family novelty events.  The inaugural weekend held on the May Day Weekend was a huge success.

In 2007, the Aileron Bush Weekend was held over the Easter long weekend. This change was strongly supported by the local community and as a result the committee has established this as the annual date over which the Aileron Bush Weekend will be held.
